Removal Company – An IT Health Check Case Study

A European removal company, headquartered in the UK, specialises in transporting, packing, assembling and dissembling customer’s goods whenever and wherever customers need them.

They are leaders in the logistics industry due to their great prices and customised services across the UK and Europe and with their global network of partners and local resources, they provide high quality services, tailored to customer’s specific requirements.

The Challenge

The company was struggling to secure investment from their business to remove significant IT risks. The company reached out to us for an independent review of their network, as the network infrastructure desperately needed to be upgraded. The IT Manager was also concerned about the operating system of the Servers and Workstations being out of date, leading to serious data compliance issues with total potential liability of just over £6,000,000.

An IT Health Check

The IT Manager used the ProcessFlows IT Health Check Assessment to understand their IT risks and take back control of their IT infrastructure. The company received a comprehensive 360° review of their entire IT infrastructure in just 30 days.

The Assessment

After the assessment, we identified some serious issues with the network that the IT Manager was not aware of. Some of the issues were linked to unencrypted sensitive data (NINO, credit card, NHS ID, date of birth, UK sort code, IBAN bank account, email addresses, names, etc.) stored in multiple locations, the Anti-Virus needed patching, an out of date and unsecured encryption protocol was still in use and no longer secure and the server was outdated and no longer supported.

Due to these issues identified by the IT Health Check Assessment the operating system and network were vulnerable, creating the urgent need for the removals company to review their IT infrastructure.

As a result, the overall network score was low, with one of the highest liabilities fines we have seen.

The Results

The IT Manager used the information captured from the IT Health Check to highlight all IT issues and build a business case to rectify and upgrade their IT infrastructure. After we provided the information in a simplified format, the IT Manager was grateful to our IT analysts and was able to use the information to remove the existent IT issues.
