A Small IT Team Struggling to Cope with Their Daily IT Tasks

The college had limited resource, their small IT team were struggling to manage their day-to-day IT tasks and knew they needed help. The team were aware they had two out of date servers that needed upgrading to the latest operating system. The IT manager was also trying to upgrade their database server but was constantly side-tracked by daily IT requests from other departments.

An IT Health Check

ProcessFlows offered to provide formal IT Health Check assessment to help the college understand their IT risks and provide the IT manager with peace of mind. The service took just 30 days and provided the college with a comprehensive 360° review of their entire IT infrastructure.

Server Issues

The IT Health check discovered the rebuild and patch management issues were not isolated to the two servers. 15 additional servers were also discovered to be running operating systems with major patching issues. Additionally, a new authentication server was needed as the existing one was not fully compatible with their WIFI solution.

Liability

The assessment also uncovered a data risk, detecting unsecured data on their database server which could have led to financial penalties, the report estimated a £195,000 potential liability fine.

The Results

The IT Manager was grateful for the information ProcessFlows provided and he was able to use the data to build a business case to update the database and authentication servers.
